LAHORE - Pakistan's star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is suffering from a knee injury, has left for London to complete his rehabilitation, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Monday.

In a press release, the PCB said that Afridi needs specialized and 24/7 specialist care for the knee and London offers world-class sports and rehabilitation facilities.

The officials decided to send him there in the best interest of the player who was earlier ruled out of the Asia Cup and the series against England. It remains under the supervision of the PCB's medical advisory panel, which includes Dr Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr Zafar Iqbal, based in London.

He added that Shaheen is expected to return to full fitness ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022, although his return to competitive cricket will be decided by the PCB's medical advisory panel.

Shaheen suffered a knee injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in July. He is expected to return to full fitness ahead of the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, although his return to competitive cricket will be decided by the PCB's medical advisory panel.

The injured player was recently spotted in the Pakistan team in the UAE ahead of the Asia Cup. He also interacted with Indian players including Virat Kohli.
